5th grade graduation

Yesterday we went to help Sena say goodbye to Elementary School. Next year she is off to Middle School, boy did that happen fast! The "big" thing that they do for 5th grade graduation is each class picks one student who they think deserves to receive the 5th Grade Citizenship Award. They discuss the traits that make a good citizen and cast a vote on who they think it should be. The child with the most votes wins it for their class. Three years ago Chad and I sat in our seats choking back tears as Kristian won this award for his class. No way did we think that Sena would win it too. Sure enough, Senas best friend, Kelsey goes up to the podium and reads this;

"Our class discussed what it means to be a good citizen. The students described the traits that a good citizen would display. The person that the students voted to receive our Citizenship Award was described as; athletic, fun to be around, helpful to the elderly, always gets homework done on time, polite, caring, friendly, loving, helps you get through your problems, hard-worker, great attitude, thoughtful, grateful to others, kind, and funny. Our Citizenship Award goes to SENA SEBION! We are proud to have had her as our classmate and friend for the past two years!"

So there sat Chad and I in a puddle of tears. 2 for 2, not bad! Rilynn Grace, you have big shoes to fill! Sena also received other awards including the Presidents Award For Educational Excellence which is the highest academic award. We are so proud of you Sena! Friday morning at 8 am we will go and help Kristian say goodbye to Middle School, next year he will be in High School!
